An initiative of the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN), and part of QAHN's Quebec-wide Internet heritage website, Quebec Heritage Web, Laurentian Heritage WebMagazine is designed to serve as a window on the history of the Laurentians, a guide to the region's heritage, past and present, and a way to encourage people of all ages to visit the region in person.

Modeled on the acclaimed Townships Heritage, Laurentian Heritage is the second of our innovative regional Internet magazines spotlighting the province’s history and heritage, with emphasis on the history and heritage of Quebec’s English-speaking community. Together, these three Internet magazines -- and, in time, magazines for all regions of Quebec from Abitibi to Gaspé -- constitute QAHN’s province-wide site, Quebec Heritage Web.

Submissions from readers are always welcome.

NEWS!! Conference on Laurentian Cemetery Heritage!
QAHN will be holding a special conference in Mille Isles in the Laurentians on May 29 (12-5 p.m.). The event, titled "These Old Stones: the 2008 QAHN Conference on Cemetery Heritage," will feature a number of guest speakers, including Carol Martin, author of In Memory of Chelsea's Historic Cemeteries; Sandra Stock, cemetery researcher and president of the Morin Heights Historical Association; and Charles Marchant, a noted cemetery restoration specialist from Vermont and an active member of the Association of Gravestone Studies.

Following his talk, Mr. Marchant will also give a demonstration of some common gravestone repair techniques.

A variety of cemetery literature will be available at the conference, including QAHN's latest publication, Cemetery Heritage in Quebec: A Handbook, written by Matthew Farfan. A copy of this illustrated, 52-page book will be provided free to each conference participant. Nearby historic churches and cemeteries will also be open to participants before the conference. Refreshments will be provided.

Advance registration is $20.00. Places are limited. To receive a registration kit, contact the QAHN office at: (819) 564-9595 or by email at: mf@qahn.org.
